Disruption to bus services

30th, July 2009

On both Tuesday, 4 August and Thursday, 6 August bus services provided by North Star, GO WEST, Metrolink and Waka Pacific will be disrupted due to a scheduled stop work meeting.

“In recent months, NZ Bus has been participating in negotiations to enter into a Collective Employment Agreement (CEA) with the unions to agree a new employment agreement for their members,” says Zane Fulljames, General Manager Operations.

“The unions advised on Monday, 27 July their intention to conduct stop work meetings to allow their members to consider our offer,” says Mr Fulljames.

Negotiations with the unions were initiated in June. The CEA covers 872 union members across the Auckland businesses: North Star, GO WEST, Metrolink (including the LINK) and Waka Pacific.

The unions involved in the negotiations are the Auckland Tramways Union, the Akarana Union, the Northern Distribution Union (NDU) and the Engineers, Printers and Manufacturers Union (EPMU).

On Tuesday the Akarana Union will meet to discuss the offer.  The disruptions will be:
    • North Star North Shore services ONLY will be impacted
      • Full services will be available until  9.30am
      • There will be no bus services between 9 .30am and 1.30pm
      • Full services will resume from 1.30pm
      • School bus services will NOT be affected
    • North Star Orewa, GO WEST, Metrolink (including the LINK and City Circuit) or Waka Pacific services will be unaffected.

On Thursday the Tramways Union-Auckland will meet to discuss the offer.  The disruptions will be:
