Waka Pacific and Kidz First - get Kidz moving
29th, June 2009
Local Counties Manukau bus service, Waka Pacific is joining with Kidz First Children’s Hospital in a new partnership, and from today a newly designed bus will take to the streets to showcase the valuable role the children’s hospital plays in the local community.
Kidz First Children’s Hospital aims to meet not only the medical care but also the developmental, emotional and social needs of children, young people and their families in the Counties Manukau area.
“Waka Pacific is delighted to be able to support the work that Kidz First does. We’re a community bus service, and the families of our drivers live locally, “says General Manager of Waka Pacific, Warren Fowler. “It is important to us that Waka Pacific reflects the community we serve and Kidz First is an integral part of our community.”
“Kidz First does a terrific job in protecting the health and well-being of children in Counties Manukau and as we all know, healthy kids mean healthy communities, “ says Mr Fowler. “The bus design features photographs of sons and daughters, nephews and nieces and grandchildren of our Waka Pacific people.”
South Auckland Health Foundation Executive Director Pam Tregonning says Waka Pacific’s support of the hospital is a fantastic example of a local business supporting community in which it is based.
“We look forward to the partnership between Waka Pacific and ourselves,” Ms Tregonning adds.
“Having visited Kidz First and seen for myself the great work Kidz First does looking after sick children and supporting their whanau, I can say that there are few organizations more deserving,” Mr Fowler continues.
“By taking the Kidz First story to the streets of Auckland we hope to encourage the community to get behind, and support the great work that they do.”
